Privacy Policy

Diamond Scout and Diamond Signals · Developer: Jeff Guthrie

The short version

These apps collect nothing. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Everything you enter stays in storage on your own device. Nothing you type into Diamond Scout or Diamond Signals is transmitted to us or to anyone else, and there is nothing to sell or share because we never receive your data in the first place.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to two mobile apps developed by Jeff Guthrie:

  • Diamond Scout — an opponent-scouting app for baseball and fastpitch softball coaches (spray charts, batter history, defensive positioning).
  • Diamond Signals — a pitch-calling companion app for coaches (pitch calls, codebook, game log).

Effective date: October 21, 2026.

What data the apps store, and where

The apps store only the coaching data you enter yourself: team names, lineups, at-bat and pitch records, spray-chart locations, positioning presets, and your app settings.

All of it is stored locally on your device only, in the app's own storage. Neither app connects to a server operated by the developer — there isn't one. We have no access to your data, and we cannot view, recover, or delete it for you.

If you uninstall the app, its stored data is deleted with it, except for any export files you previously saved elsewhere (see "Export and import" below).

What the apps do not do

  • No user accounts, sign-up, or sign-in of any kind.
  • No collection of personal information — no names are required, and no email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, photos, or location data are accessed or stored by the apps.
  • No data is transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
  • No data is sold or shared. (We never receive it, so there is nothing to sell or share.)
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No analytics, usage tracking, crash-reporting services, or third-party trackers or SDKs that collect data.

Diamond Scout

Diamond Scout records what you log during games — opponent at-bats, batted-ball locations, pitcher information, and defensive positioning — and keeps it on your device so spray charts and batter histories build up across games.

Optional watch broadcasts

If you use the optional watch features, Diamond Scout can broadcast a defensive positioning call (for example, "outfield, shift right, two steps") from your phone to nearby Wear OS smartwatches using Bluetooth Low Energy. This broadcast:

  • goes directly from your phone to watches close by — it is a local, one-way signal, like a coach calling out to the field;
  • is not sent to any server, and the developer receives nothing from it;
  • contains only the positioning call itself — no personal information;
  • happens only when you tap to send it, and the watch features can be turned off entirely in the app, which hides them and stops all broadcasting.

Diamond Signals

Diamond Signals records the pitches you call and their results, your codebook, and your game log — all stored on your device only, under the same rules as Diamond Scout.

Optional watch broadcasts

If you use the optional watch features, Diamond Signals can broadcast pitch calls and defensive plays from your phone directly to nearby Wear OS smartwatches using Bluetooth Low Energy. As with Diamond Scout, these broadcasts are local and one-way: nothing is sent to any server, the developer receives nothing from them, they carry only the call itself, and they happen only while the broadcast feature is on. Turning the watch features off stops all broadcasting.

One permission note about the companion watch app: Android requires a location permission for Bluetooth scanning on the watch, so the watch app asks for it. It is never used to determine, record, or store your location — it exists only so the watch can hear the phone's broadcasts.

Export and import

Both apps let you export your data to a JSON file and import it again — for example, to back it up or move it to another phone. The file is created only when you choose to export, it goes wherever you choose to send or save it (your files, your email, your own cloud storage), and it is entirely under your control. The apps never send this file anywhere on their own. If you share an export file with someone, they will be able to see the coaching data in it, so treat it like any other file you own.

Children

These apps are coaching tools designed for adults. They are not directed at children, and — like everything else — they collect no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of either app changes how data is handled, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change takes effect. The commitment above — your data stays on your device — is the design of these apps, not a setting.
